Rahul L Kanodia, Vice-chairman and CEO of Datamatics brings 20 years of professional experience of IT industry. He has been the Chief Architect for re-positioning and transforming Datamatics from a service led organization to a solutions and product led organization focused on delivering next-generation business solutions to address customer's strategic and operational challenges.

In an exclusive interview with India CIO Review, Rahul tells us about the challenges that Indian IT companies are facing and latest solutions by Datamatics for domestic market.

Around 80 per cent of revenues for Datamatics are generated through its international operations. What are you focus areas for Indian markets?
Datamatics’ core competencies lie in providing Enterprise Data and Information Management solutions, with which we have been helping our clients the world over. We have proprietary tools for the job with which we have churned out award-winning solutions. We assist our clients in their journey from ‘Data to Intelligence’. Our focus remains on ECM & EDM with additional capabilities on analytics & mobility solutions.
India, like other geographies, is an evolved market. However, most of the industries including Banking, Insurance, Logistics and Public Services still deal in paper documents. Datamatics’ with its proprietary products, is able to cater to their needs while providing next generation solutions for a competitive edge.

Being an Indian IT company, what are the challenges you think that Indian IT industry is facing these days?
There are no new challenges as such. The Indian IT industry has matured. All companies across the board are struggling to move up the value chain. Increasingly, IT services are getting commoditized making it imperative for these companies to create a differentiator and provide higher business value to the customers.

How is economic downfall affecting Indian IT industry? Does it affect your business?
Like any other IT company, our maximum revenue comes from the US market, followed by the European and Indian markets. With the US market back on its way to growth and the big European economies recovering from their downturns, the Indian IT industry has not been negatively affected. Datamatics is spread throughout all the major economies of the world and as such, a downturn in one market can always be offset with an upswing in another.
