Manual Replication of MySQL Database Using MySQL Workbench

Replicate MySQL Database with MySQL Workbench

Microsoft Azure Cloud has the most extensively distributed set of data centers that enables application deployment in the required regions. However, it does not support Database Replication in some global regions. The Database Replication feature ensures frequent copying of data between two geographically distant databases and is vital for providing the same copy of data access anytime anywhere. This feature is also important in case of application disaster recovery and data center-level access issues.
In such cases, MS Azure offers the option of manual replication of the MySQL database through the MySQL Workbench. The database replica switches in to build data redundancy in case of downtime at the data center. Any updates in the database replica then replicate on the main database as and when it is up, with zero latency to ensure data synchronization. This feature allows nurturing customer relations even in case of data center failures by ensuring no downtime or damage to data even in severe cases.

Key Takeaways

Microsoft Azure has Database Replication feature in limited global regions and it will be rolled out shortly in others.

Till then the other regions can avail the manual MySQL database replication over the MySQL Workbench.

The database replica brings in seamless data redundancy and is synchronized with the main database periodically.
